We're looking for a Content Manager to join The Idle Man to develop a measured and on-brand content strategy across all social and owned channels, that focuses on performance and commercial trade generation.  This is a full time and permanent role, based in Old Street, and reporting to the Managing Director. 



  • Translate information from Buying & Merchandising team and the wider industry into a strategic 360 calendar of engaging content publishing
  • Evolve the editorial proposition and pillars of social channels and on-site content, in line with customer needs and business KPIs, challenging the status quo and developing new ideas
  • Work with the Managing Director and Buying & Merchandising team to develop an engaging brand content strategy for all social channels, email and site, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience, elevating the brand proposition and increasing conversion YoY
  • Deliver quarterly insight-led campaigns, helping to tell the brand’s story to an engaged audience across social and on-site channels. Content published should be right for the audience and reflective of The Idle Man’s DNA
  • Develop, execute and maintain the brand’s publishing calendar across all social channels, email and site, working closely with Buying & Merchandising, Graphic Designer and Sub Editor to make reactive changes when required based on audience and business needs
  • Develop, submit and execute content briefs for all social media channels, email and homepages (mobile, desktop and app) that answer KPIs and brand requirements, ensuring they inspire and motivate the customer to convert. This process involves working closely with all key departments
  • Ensure social content delivers against KPIs, specifically building brand advocacy (measured via dwell time, likes, shares and increased frequency of traffic to site)
  • Work closely with the Sub Editor and Buying & Merchandising to ensure all copy remains on brand, moves with the changing culture of our customer and that all written content is uploaded and published on time while also keeping up to date with any retail and merchandising changes
  • Represent the content team, and most importantly the customer, in brand development sessions, confidently pitching ideas that will help shape the direction, drive ideas forwards, and are considerate of feedback from senior management
  • Liaise regularly with wider team to keep up to date with broader department schedules and to ensure there is a 360-degree customer experience across social, email, site and blog
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Sub Editor and Graphic Designer, giving constructive guidance and helping them to grow their editorial and analytical skills by highlighting ways to improve their content output
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the content department, taking direction from the Managing Director as required

  • Extremely organised and reliable, with experience working to tight deadlines
